teaser_06First Berlin has been providing capital market services focused on the German micro and small cap market since 1998. The founder of the firm, Martin Bailey, has been active in investment banking since the mid-1980s. Mr. Bailey has been owner and Managing Director of First Berlin since its foundation.

First Berlin fully established itself in the market through a successful joint-venture with Germany’s second largest bank, Commerzbank, from 2005 to 2008 for the coverage of German micro and small cap companies. From 2009 to 2012 First Berlin cooperated with DZ Bank, Germany’s fourth largest bank, taking over research coverage of micro and small caps for the bank.

Following the establishment of First Berlin as Germany’s leading micro and small cap research firm, the company extended its services by opening a front desk for capital market transactions. Since 2009 First Berlin has been offering a front desk for capital market services with an investment banking license through a cooperation with Steubing AG.

In 2012 First Berlin became Deutsche Börse Listing Partner enabling our firm to offer full IPO candidate support to develop an issuing strategy for companies aiming to go public. Today First Berlin offers the full range of financial services for the micro and small cap market from research and market intelligence to trading and professional support in going and being public.

Building on its expertise in understanding what makes a company successful, First Berlin decided to create its first venture capital fund in 2013. With an activist approach the First Berlin Opportunities Fund, managed by First Berlin Capital, provides growth capital for innovative European companies with high exit potential through trade sales and IPOs.
